Vivo V17 Review: Vivo V17 has been launched in India. The price of this smartphone is Rs 22,990. It has been introduced in two color variants. Vivo V17 will be sold in India from December 17. After using Vivo V17 for a few days, we tell you a review of this smartphone.

This smartphone has 128GB of internal storage with 8GB of RAM. The color variant is Midnight Ocean Black. First of all – the phone is very handy and you can use a smartphone of this size comfortably with one hand.

Vivo V17 Review for Design and Build Quality

The design is good and the build quality is solid. The phone seems lighter, if you see this than the V17 Pro, then it is lighter than that smartphone. The rear panel is not very slippery, but if you use the cover only then it will be better. Back panel fingerprint magnets, you will see fingerprints here. Glass is design and frame is of metal. Talking about the camera module given on the rear panel, the company has tried to give it a retro-styled design which is inspired by the compact camera.

The rear panel is curved and due to this, there is a good grip in holding the phone. Four rear cameras have been given on the rear panel itself. At the bottom is Vivo’s branding. At the bottom of the phone you get a USB Type C port and a headphone jack. The volume rocker key and home button are given on the right.

Vivo V17 Review for The display

In front of Vivo V17 you only get the display – that is, full view display, the bezels are quite thin and the good thing is that there is no notch in it. There is a punch-hole display. The display is great and my experience of using it for some time has been good. This smartphone has a 6.44 inch Full HD Plus display. Super AMOLED panel has been used in it. The screen is bright and colorful. The viewing angle is great and you can read the content on display well in the sunlight in India.

The under-display fingerprint scanner is fast. You can change its animation settings here. Face Unlock has also been provided which is based on the front camera. In the case of the under-display fingerprint scanner, this company is doing quite well.

Vivo V17 Review for The camera

The Vivo V17 is a camera-centric smartphone and has four rear cameras. It is being called 48MP AI Quad Camera Setup. The primary lens is 48 megapixels, the second 8 megapixels, the third 2 megapixels, the fourth is also 2 megapixels. It has a dedicated 2-megapixel macro lens. This smartphone has a 32-megapixel front camera for selfies.

Talking about the experience of photography, it is decent photography. Night shots are good and if the day is good light, then you can click very nice pictures from it. However, it does not perform as well under low light. The camera user interface is similar to other Vivo smartphones. Here you also find many AR-based stickers on the camera.

You get many options here. Bokeh, wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle lenses are included. If you want to use 48 megapixels, then for this you can use 48 MP by tapping the More option. Apart from this, there is also Pro Mode. This is where you get options like slow-mo and time-lapse. There is a dedicated mode to use Night Mode.

Bokeh mode disappoints. Especially when you are clicking a photo of someone in the indoor and hope that this photo will be a great click. This does not happen. If you use this mode in outdoor during the day then it is good.

Talking about some special features given in the camera, here you get the option of super night mode and it is also for the front. Apart from this, the company has also given an ultra-stable video features in it. We have done night photography with this and I can say that this phone does not disappoint you in night photography, but still it has some shortcomings which you will read further.

Photos clicked in super wide-angle mode provide good coverage, but you will not find good quality pictures here, which is mostly the problem of ultra-wide-angle. Macro photography is more in trend nowadays. Talking about it, it is Decent, can not say fantastic. However, you can do macro photography by coming close to 4cm. Sometimes a little difficulty will be required in setting the focus. This could have been done better.

Talking about videos, you get stable videos, this smartphone also has the ability to collect audio well. While recording videos, if your hands are moving, you are walking, even running, then the result of the recorded video will not disappoint you. The company has kept full focus on stability and that is good. Shakey videos generally become useless, especially when you are making videos on the go or you want to capture something while walking in a car.

Vivo V17 Review for Performance

The Vivo V17 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 AIE octa-core processor. In the top model that I am reviewing, it has 128GB internal storage with 8GB of RAM. Micro SD card is supported and you can increase up to 256GB.

We have reviewed the Snapdragon 675 AIE with many smartphones before, so it is not difficult to tell how its performance is. This processor is given in mid-range smartphones. Yes, there is one thing that even the software has a great impact on the overall performance of the phone. In Vivo V17, Android 9 Pie-based Vivo has given its own custom operating system FunTouch OS 9.2.

If you do gaming, then this smartphone has special features for you. In this, the information of real-time CPU, GPU and temperature will be available during gaming on the lines of a gaming smartphone. This mode also becomes active for no one to disturb you during gaming. Ultra Gaming mode is also given.

Talking about other extra features, it has support for voice changer. You can talk with your teammates by voice change during gaming. Apart from this, there is also an option of off-screen autoplay. Under this, even if you lock the phone screen, the game will continue to run in the background without any interruptions.

There is no problem with multi-tasking. The phone is fast and smooth. No problem switching apps. With Snapdragon 675 AIE, you cannot expect that fast response from old opened apps. The same with this smartphone too. This is a problem after opening several applications simultaneously.

The good thing is that during gaming, this smartphone does not heat up quickly, but after some time it heats up. Especially when you play Call of Duty Mobile in full settings. I have only tried Call of Duty: Mobile in this smartphone. I would advise that you do not play in the Gaming Full Settings in this smartphone because here you will feel lag.

Our experience of watching videos in this smartphone has been good, but again it will be a problem that comes in a smartphone with a punch-hole display. The same problem sometimes comes during gaming. Since the bezels are low and the screen is good, you can watch Netflix comfortably on it.

Vivo V17 Review for battery backup

Vivo V17 has a battery of 4,500mAh. This smartphone gives good results in the battery department. A 1.5-day battery backup will be available if you use the smartphone mixed. By full charge, 50% of the battery would be consumed from 9 am to 7 pm. After this, you use for 1 or 2 hours at night and then keep it on standby mode overnight. By 2 pm on the second day, you can use it comfortably.

What is the scale of mixed-use? Mixed-use means – Internet browsing, calling, music, videos, and photography. For gaming, you have to carry a charger. If gaming even for two to three hours, then this smartphone will obviously not provide 1.5 days backup.

Should you buy this smartphone?

This smartphone does not come in the category of value for money, because it is not cheap at all. There is no doubt about photography, especially night photography, it is better. Battery backup is good. You will also like the display, the performance is slightly above average. The design is good. If these things are necessary for you in a smartphone, then you can buy it.
