With this, the Bihar cabinet has approved the new service condition rules of these teachers. According to this, more than three and a half lakh teachers and chief librarians will get the benefit of the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) from September 2020 itself. These decisions were taken in a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
After this meeting, Additional Chief Secretary of the State Education Department, RK Mahajan said that the state government will provide 13 percent of the teachers' EPF. Of this, 12 per cent will go to the teachers' PF account and one per cent to the EPFO. Mahajan said that the benefit of EPF is also a kind of increment.
The decision to give the benefit of EPF will increase the burden on the government by Rs 815 crore annually. At the same time, the decision to increase the salary will put an additional burden of Rs 1950 crore on the government. Mahajan said that the government wanted to increase the salary of teachers from this year, but due to Corona epidemic, the economic situation is not in its favor.
