A total of 1.89 crore people lost their jobs
According to the Center for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), 1.89 crore people have lost their jobs since April during the lockdown. According to the data, in the last month i.e. July, 5 million people lost their jobs. According to statistics, this figure of unemployment is 1.77 crore in April and about one lakh in May. Around 39 lakh people got jobs in June.
In this context, CMIE Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mahesh Vyas said, 'Salaried jobs do not go quickly, but when they go, it is very difficult to get back again, so it is a matter of concern for us. Salaried jobs are about 1.90 crore less than the 2019-20 average. ' According to an estimate, salaried employment constitutes just 21 per cent of the total employment in India. The number of unemployed people in April was only 15%.
Not only this, during the Corona period companies of many sectors also cut the salaries of the employees. At the same time, many employees were sent on leave without pay. In such a situation, the industries are requesting support to the government.
