Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal hoisted the national flag on the occasion of Independence Day and saluted the tricolor. Along with this, he greeted the people of Delhi and the country on the occasion of Independence Day, and also assured the parents of the capital that schools will not open until the corona epidemic ends.
Kejriwal said he assures parents that Delhi's schools will not be opened until the safety of their children is fully ensured.
Beginning his speech, Chief Minister Kejriwal greeted everyone and congratulations and said, “Today is the day to remember all those martyrs who sacrificed their lives to liberate their country.”
Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad, Ashfaq Ullah Khan, Subhash Chandra Bose are millions of people who made huge sacrifices to liberate their country from the British. Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel, Baba Saheb Ambedkar, Jawaharlal Nehru are the people who did penance to liberate the country.
Today is also a day to remember those people who have made great sacrifices on the country's borders in the last 73 years to preserve the independence of the country and keep the country safe.
Just recently, we heard that 20 of our soldiers were killed on the India-China border. Today, when we breathe in the open air and roam freely, we forget how many such soldiers have sacrificed their lives. Today, we remember and honor all those soldiers and salute them.
But at the same time take the pledge that all those who fought for the freedom of the country and those who were crazy about freedom, should contribute to fulfill their dreams. Today, the situation is very much under control regarding Corona inside Delhi.
Kejriwal further said that, I congratulate the people of Delhi, the people of Delhi have shown a lot of unprecedented work over the years. When pollution was increasing everywhere, Delhi was probably the only city in the country where people here reduced 25 per cent pollution. The level of pollution in 2015 decreased by 25% from that in 2019.
This is a good thing but we are not satisfied with it, we will take many more steps but the great thing is that when pollution was increasing inside the whole world and the country, the pollution inside Delhi was decreasing.
In the last 5 years, the people of Delhi jointly controlled dengue. In 2015, more than 10,000 dengue cases occurred and 60 people died but in 2019 not a single death was due to dengue. And now, as the whole country and the world are struggling with the corona epidemic, in the month of June, people were afraid to come to Delhi. But two crore people of Delhi controlled it with their understanding and hard work.
The situation which was there 2 months ago has come under a lot of control today, fear of people has reduced considerably. Today, the Delhi model is being discussed all over the country.
Thanks to all those who have helped control the situation in Delhi. We want to thank the central government, thank all social organizations, thank all religious institutions, thank all the doctors' associations and NGOs.
Kejriwal further said, I want to thank all the Corona Warriors. The Corona Warriors are here today for applause. My salutes to our doctors, nurses, paramedical staff, policemen, cleaners and all of you.
Kejriwal also said that, while serving Corona patients, if someone's life goes away, then we have announced and given a crore rupees to his family. It is not that someone is working for one crore rupees. There can be no cost to a life. But the message of giving one crore rupees which went inside Corona Warriors felt that there is a government which is taking care of us.
There have been cases in which the patient passed away after coming home due to oxygen down. From next week, pulse oximeters will also be sent to the homes of such people. That is, even after being cured, pulse oximeter will be given to the patients to know the problem of oxygen.
We gave the country the method of home isolation. We decided that those who are not serious patients will be treated in home isolation and those who are serious will be treated in the hospital. The agency was in constant contact with home isolation patients. Home isolation patients were given a pulse oximeter.
Delhi gave the concept of plasma therapy to the entire country. Delhi was the first state where plasma trials took place and Delhi was the first state to have a plasma bank. More than 750 patients have taken plasma and their lives have been saved. The biggest challenge before us is the economy.
We have just launched a job portal. There are also job-seekers and job-seekers. People had left Delhi due to the lockdown, factories were closed, now they did not have working people if they reopened.
The day I started this job portal, at that time I thought that if 10 to 15000 people also get jobs, then I will be very happy. Millions of jobs have been registered and job seekers have registered. So far, about 10 lakh jobs have been registered on this portal and about eight and a half lakh job seekers. Delhi government will be the first such government in history to have reduced the rate of diesel by 8 rupees in one go.
