Prime Minister Narendra Modi will announce the results of 'Swachh Survekshan – 2020', the fifth edition of the nationwide annual sanitation survey. Rajiv Jain, spokesman of the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry, said on Tuesday that 1.87 crore citizens from 4,242 cities, 62 Cantonment Boards and 92 towns along the Ganges River participated in the survey. Jain said that a total of 129 awards would be given to the cities and states that performed well in the 'Swachh Mahotsav' program.

The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, which is organizing the program, said that the Prime Minister will communicate with selected cleaners and sweepers of the Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban (SBM-U) from different parts of the country through video conferencing.

The Ministry said that on this occasion, the Prime Minister will also announce the result of 'Swachh Survekshan 2020'. The ministry said that the campaign of 'Swachh Survekshan 2020' has been completed in 28 days. 1.7 crore citizens have registered themselves on the cleanliness app. It was viewed more than 11 crore times on social media, more than 5.5 lakh sweepers were linked to social welfare programs and more than 84,000 people engaged in informal garbage pickup were mainstreamed.
