It may be noted that the Board of Directors of ESIC has doubled the payments under unemployment benefit from 24 March to 31 December this year, providing relief to those who lost employment in the wake of Corona virus epidemic. Under the scheme, now 50 percent of the average salary of three months will be given.

The scheme will provide relief to those associated with ESI who lost their jobs during the Kovid-19 epidemic. Under this scheme, during the period from 24 March 2020 to 31 December 2020, a benefit equal to 50 per cent of the average salary of three months would be given to the earlier 25 per cent. '
Claim can be filed after 30 days of employment
The minister said, 'Now a claim for benefits can be filed after 30 days of employment. Earlier it was possible to do this after 90 days. Now employees can claim on their own, whereas earlier they had to apply through the employer.
40 lakh industrial workers expected to benefit
Gangwar is also the Chairman of the ESIC Board. He appealed to the people under the scheme to take advantage of it. About 40 lakh industrial workers are expected to benefit from this decision taken in the meeting of ESIC Board on Thursday. The ESIC Board has approved increasing the payment under unemployment benefit under the Atal Insured Person Welfare Scheme and relaxed the eligibility criteria.
19 million people have been employed
According to the Center for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), about 1.9 million people have lost their jobs due to the crisis that was caused by the corona virus epidemic. In the month of July alone, 50 lakh people have been unemployed. However, according to the Employees Provident Fund Organization, 4.98 lakh people joined the formal workforce in June.
