Assembly proceedings were adjourned on Friday after paying tribute to BJP MLA Janmejaya Singh from Deoria. Despite the holiday, the assembly will meet in a while. It will have about one and a half dozen bills and other legislative functions.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath proposed a condolence motion. He said that 75-year-old Janmejaya Singh was elected MLA for the first time in the year 2000. He won consecutive elections in the years 2012 and 2017. He was a popular populist, respecting public aspirations.
He was the director of Kasia Cooperative Bank. He was a progressive farmer of Gauribazar region and was associated with many educational institutions. His death has caused irreparable damage to the BJP. SP's Shailendra Yadav Lalai said that Janmejaya Singh was simple and gentle. He went to jail in many mass movements.
BSP leader Lalji Verma said that he first became an MLA by winning the by-election in 2000 as a BSP candidate. Aradhana Mishra Mona of Congress, Om Prakash Rajbhar of Subhaspa, Neel Ratna Patel of Apna Dal (Sone Lal) also paid tribute to Janmejaya Singh.
SP-Congress postpone protest
The SP and Congress on Friday suspended the proposed sit-in demonstration. The SP also postponed a cycle rally to be held against the government's anti-people policies. SP President Akhilesh Yadav expressed condolences to the family while condoling the death of Janmejaya Singh.
Assembly Secretariat will open today, personnel will be present
Assembly Speaker Hriday Narayan Dixit has said that the Assembly Secretariat will open on August 22 as scheduled due to the convening of the proceedings of the second session of this year's assembly on Saturday's public holiday.
Janmejaya was a popular leader
The Speaker has said in a condolence message on the death of Janmejaya Singh that he was a popular leader. He was always ready for the development of his region and the upliftment of the poor and weak people of the society. With his death, the people of Deoria district as well as the people of the state and BJP have lost a skilled politician.
