According to CBIC, these 56 brokers have been acted upon by the Directorate General of Analytics and Risk Management after examining the custom brokers in the links of fraudulent exporters. 62 Custom Brokers were placed under the purview of CBIC.
The investigation found that these brokers handled more than 15290 export consignments. These consignments were of 1431 unaware exporters, who could not be traced even after trying. In one case, the Custom Broker handled the exports of 99 missing exporters who had claimed IGST refunds of Rs 121.70 crore.
CBIC said, the activities of all these custom brokers were suspicious and the officials have been successful in stopping the IGST refund of Rs 226 crore in these cases. CBIC said that apart from the suspension of the licenses of these 56 brokers, investigations are still on.
7516 exporters are under suspicion
CBIC said that orders have been ordered to conduct 100 per cent inspection of all imported goods. As of mid-July, CBIC had placed 7516 exporters on the list of 'risky exporters' across the country.
