According to officials, the French Defense Minister will arrive in Ambala by Thursday morning to join the program. He and Rajnath Singh will then discuss in Ambala itself to further strengthen bilateral defense relations and security cooperation between the two countries. After this discussion, Parley will leave from here in the evening.
Explain that during the first term of Narendra Modi's government, a deal of Rs 59,000 crore was signed between India and France for the purchase of 36 fighter jets. The first batch of five Rafale fighter jets reached India on July 29, nearly four years after this intergovernmental agreement.
Under the agreement, 10 Rafale aircraft have been supplied to India so far, of which five are currently in France. Indian Air Force pilots are training on them. The supply of all 36 fighter jets is expected to be completed by the end of 2021.
It is noteworthy that out of 36 Rafale aircraft, 30 will be fighter aircraft and six will be trainers. The trainer aircraft will be twin-seater and have almost all the features of fighter jets. The first squadron of the Rafale jet will be stationed at Ambala Airport, while the second will be stationed at the Hasimara Base in West Bengal.
