While the Oli government is talking to India on the one hand to improve relations, it is not refraining from anti-India activities. The Government of Nepal has recently announced a new map of Nepal. In this map Limpiyadhura, Lipulekh and Kalapani, which are part of India, have been described as the territory of Nepal. India has strongly objected to this. Because of this, relations between Nepal and India have also soured.
Now Nepal's Ministry of Education has made the entire area of Nepal public in the new book of Secondary Education. In this also, Kalapani, Limpiyadhura and Lipulekh are described as part of Nepal. The book claims that India has occupied about 542 sq km in Limpiyadhura, Lipulekh and Kalapani area.
Education, Science and Technology Minister Giriraj Mani Pokharel has made public the book titled 'Nepali Terrain and Sampoorna Seema Swadhyay Stuff'. The total area of Nepal in this book is 1,47,641.28 square kilometers. Lipulekh, Limpiyadhura and Kalapani area of the northwestern region of Nepal is 460.28 square kilometers.
If this area was not included in the total area of Nepal recorded in the textbook, then the actual area of Nepal would have been 1,47,181 square kilometers. Nepal-India relations experts say that the inclusion of Lipulekh, Limpiyadhura and Kalapani in the text book could adversely affect high-level talks between the two countries in the future.
One and two rupee coins also bear new map
The Government of Nepal has approved the National Bank to mark a new map of Nepal on one and two rupee coins. Foreign Minister Pradeep Gyawali said that this decision has been taken in the Council of Ministers meeting held on Monday. So far, the old map of Nepal has been inscribed on coins and notes. The central bank has also been approved to include Limpiyadhura, Kalapani, Lipulekh in the map to be printed in the new coin.
