The IMD has forecast more rain in the central and southern parts of India in the last two weeks of the month. According to IMD Director General, Dr. M. Mahapatra, although the southwest monsoon will start returning from West Rajasthan with fog start from 17-18 September, rain will not decrease in other parts of the country, as new low over the Gulf Areas of pressure are developing.
He was also present along with the Secretary of the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Madhavan while talking on the current status and forecast of the monsoon 2020. Adequate rainfall during the monsoon is very favorable for farmers in terms of kharif sowing, which is also important for the season. India has received 815 mm of rain against the normal 758.2 mm so far.
