India considers provoking action along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) as a tactic to pressure China to engage with military and diplomatic channels. To deal with this, India is also sending a message to China not to refrain from continuous retaliation. India's strategy is to maintain an aggressive stance on the LAC by continuing dialogue through all means. Actually, the dragon wants to pressurize India through infiltration and firing.
A highly placed source said that India will not come under any pretense to pressure China. For the past about a month, India has been giving aggressive message to the LAC to send a message to China to be prepared to face every situation with no pressure. The same trend will continue in future. India will keep the ball of controversy constantly in China's court. Indeed, increasing tensions between talks is China's old strategy. With this, China has always been under pressure. The same happened in the year 2017 in the Doklam controversy. More than two months into the tussle, China had consistently shown aggressive attitude. The Chinese had to lay down arms after showing a counter tone from India and persisting on it till the end.
The conversation will not stop
A government source said that India would not back down from talks to avert the dispute. However, even with the talks, the LAC will not signal China to be under pressure even a little. According to the above source, this has been India's strategy in this dispute case from the very beginning. Apart from Special Representative level talks, Foreign Ministers and Defense Ministers, India is constantly adamant on its old stand in military level talks. Foreign Minister Jaishankar will again introduce the same strategy to his Chinese counterpart in Moscow.
China is confused
Diplomatic experts believe that China is now in a dilemma after the beginning of tensions over LAC. China has escalated the controversy so much that there is no option left for it to immediately backfoot. In such a situation, the ongoing dispute over LAC will be prolonged. China's attitude will gradually soften.
