Director General of Police Dilbag Singh said an 'anti-infiltration grid' is active to demolish the nefarious designs and a campaign is being carried out to uncover the tunnel. A 170-meter tunnel was recently discovered in the village of Galar near the international border.
The depth of this tunnel is 20-25 feet and it was built from the Pakistan side. It was detected by a BSF team on 28 August. The DGP reported that they inspected the tunnel. It is similar to the tunnel unearthed in 2013-14 in Channayari. After the Nagrota encounter, we had received secret information that the tunnel had intruded and we were looking for it.
In January this year, three Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists were killed in an encounter in Nagrota. He said that the investigation is going on but there are indications that Pakistan used it to deliver the intruders. He did not rule out the possibility of more such tunnels. He said that the BSF and police personnel are campaigning to locate more such tunnels.
