Rupee rises 12 paise to close at 73.52
The rupee rose 12 paise to close at 73.52 (provisional) on Wednesday due to the rise in the domestic stock market and weak US currency. The interbank foreign exchange market witnessed huge fluctuations in local currency against the US dollar. The rupee opened at 73.70 and fell further, though in the end the Indian currency closed at a positive level of 73.52 against the US dollar.
In this way, the rupee has gained 12 paise against the previous closing price of 73.64. The rupee touched a high of 73.48 and a low of 73.78 against the dollar in day trading. Meanwhile, the dollar index, showing the position of the US dollar against six major currencies, fell 0.12 percent to 92.94.
Such was the situation of veteran shares
Talking about the big stocks, today Dr. Reddy, M&M, Hindalco, Bajaj Auto and Britannia shares closed on the green mark. IndusInd Bank, NTPC, Cipla, Axis Bank and Infratel shares closed at the red mark.
Monitoring of sectoral index
If we look at the sectoral index, today all the sectors except the media and PSU bank closed on the green mark. These include IT, finance services, banks, pharma, private banks, auto, realty, FMCG and metal.
Market was open on green mark
The Sensex opened 44.84 points or 0.11 per cent up at 39089.11 in early trade and the Nifty opened 0.09 per cent, or 10.25 points, at 11532.05.
The market was closed on the last trading day
The Sensex was up 287.72 points to close at 39044.35, up 0.74 percent on the previous trading day, and the Nifty gained 0.71 percent (81.75 points) to end at 11521.80.
