MIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi told reporters on Tuesday night that the party would fight for justice in the Seemanchal region of the eastern state. On the charge of dividing the votes of the parties opposing the BJP, Owaisi said that he is running a political party and the party has the right to contest elections.
I will contest elections all over the country
When asked whether his party would contest elections in other states as well, he said, “You mean we should not contest elections.” AAP (Congress) sat on Shiv Sena's lap in Maharashtra. Did anyone ask why you contest. I will contest every election in West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and the country. Do I need to get approval from anyone to contest elections? ''
Party will contest elections in Uttar Pradesh in 2022
However, he did not clarify whether the party will contest elections alone or in alliance with other parties. Owaisi said that AIMIM will contest the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections in 2022. Only time will tell whose ally we will be.
Owaisi asked, what did Muslims do?
Owaisi, who was allegedly attacked by West Bengal leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury for calling the 'AIMIM' in the Bihar election, said he wanted to know what welfare work he (Chaudhary) had done for the Muslims in his constituency. AIMIM will contest elections in West Bengal. AIMIM is coming to Bengal.
The Congress and other parties call AIMIM the BJP's 'B team' and have been critical of Owaisi for dividing the votes of anti-BJP parties.
According to political analysts, Owaisi's AIMIM heavily influenced the RJD-led grand alliance's votes in Seemanchal region in the third phase of Bihar assembly elections.
Owaisi's party contested 20 seats in Bihar, most of which were voted on November 7 in the third phase. AIMIM is part of the 'Grand Democratic Secular Front'. Also part of this alliance are Upendra Kushwaha's Rashtriya Lok Samata Party and Bahujan Samaj Party.
Performance improved
According to Election Commission data, more than four crore votes were cast in Bihar and out of which 1.24 percent votes have been received by AIMIM. The party's performance in Bihar assembly elections 2015 was poor and managed to get only 0.5 per cent of the votes. MIMIM's performance in Uttar Pradesh in the 2017 assembly elections was also not good. Apart from Telangana and Bihar, the party has two MLAs and one MP in Maharashtra.
