The biggest concern of the party in the by-election was Madhya Pradesh. To save power, the party needed nine seats in each of the 28 seats. Since most of these seats were vacated by the resignation of Congress MLAs. In this case, many kinds of speculations were being made about the results. The results, however, proved that people have reposed faith in Jyotiraditya Scindia, who had left the Congress a few months ago with Shivraj in the state, and his strong hold has brought great success to the party. The BJP has won 19 seats here. Here Congress has secured nine seats.
Magic continues in Gujarat
By winning all the eight seats of Gujarat, the BJP has once again got its popularity in the state. By-elections were held in those eight seats in the state which were mostly vacated by the resignation of Congress MLAs. In the assembly elections, BJP had got a slight majority. However, the number of seats in the party has increased drastically after several Congress MLAs joined the BJP and now the huge success in the by-elections.
BJP has 40 seats in 58 seats
The BJP has won 40 seats in the by-elections in 58 seats in 11 states of the country. Maximum of these won 19 seats in Madhya Pradesh, eight in Gujarat and six in UP. Apart from this, BJP and Independent candidates won one seat each in Manipur. In Karnataka too, BJP occupied both the seats. Here, N. Muniratna from RR Nagar seat has won for the third time in a row and Dr. CM Rajesh Gowda from Tumakuru seat. Apart from this, the party has won only one seat in Telangana. Congress's Indu Raj Narwal retained the Yogeshwar Dutt of the BJP for the second time, retaining the Baroda seat of Haryana. The Congress has managed to win the Marwahi seat in Chhattisgarh. While both the seats of Odisha have gone in favor of the ruling BJD.
JMM in Jharkhand, Congress won one seat each
In the by-elections in two seats in Jharkhand, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and the Congress retained one seat each.
