The tournament was postponed to 2021 due to Corona virus. The decision was taken by the FIFA Council Bureau, which assessed the impact of the current Kovid-19 epidemic on global football. “The recommendations of the FIFA Confederation Working Group set up for Kovid-19 due to inability to postpone these tournaments (Under-17 Women's and Under-20 Women's World Cups) further,” said a statement issued by FIFA. But with the cancellation of the 2020 phase of both age groups, they have been given the right to hold the next event.
Now both the World Cup will be held in 2022
The FIFA-Confederation Kovid-19 Working Group canceled the Under-17 Women's World Cup as well as the Under-20 Women's World Cup 2020 after consulting all stakeholders. The next World Cup of both will be held in 2022, which will be hosted by the current host countries.
India will host
The statement said that after further consultation between FIFA and the respective host member associations regarding the 2022 editions of the tournament, the bureau awarded Costa Rica the FIFA Under-20 Women's World Cup 2022 and India the FIFA Women's Under-17 World Cup 2022 Hosting is assigned.
Let me tell you that earlier this World Cup was to be held in India in November this year, but due to Kovid-19, it was postponed to February-March next year (2021). Due to this, India will now have to wait for two years to host.
