The 13th season of out-of-country IPL was a success, due to the adverse conditions in the Corona era. Playing between the empty stadium and the bio bubble was nothing short of a challenge for the players. After the tournament is over six months ahead of schedule, next season's fragrance has also started.
Nine teams instead of eight?
The year 2021, the 14th season of the tournament, is likely to be very different. According to media reports, the Board of Control for Cricket in India is considering replacing the next season of franchise number eight with nine. A hint has also been given to all the team about this. The board aims to balance the economic damage caused by the lockdown.
Ahmedabad may be the new franchisee
Gujarat Cricket Association has recently built the world's largest cricket stadium in Ahmedabad. Viewer capacity was reduced to one lakh 10 thousand, while rebuilding Motera. The sports complex is equipped with state of the art facilities. Board Secretary Jai Shah also comes from the same state, after which it is estimated that the ninth franchise will be Ahmedabad.
Cricket returns to India from England tour
Talking to a media house, Sourav Ganguly has already clarified that the IPL of 2021 will be on Indian soil only. India will visit Australia at the end of the IPL. Then in January-February, cricket will return to India with a tour of England. Then in April, that is, just five months after the IPL will sound.
Will it be auctioned in January?
The IPL auction usually takes place in the month of December, but this time the IPL has been delayed due to Kovid, so the auction for the next season may be held in January 2021. However, so far no official statement of any kind or explanation has come on these reports.
