Energy Minister Nitin Raut has said that consumers have to pay as much electricity bill as per meter reading during lockdown. Raut said that like electricity consumers, Mahavitaran, a state power company, is a customer. He too has to buy electricity from someone else and supply it. We tried to give a two percent discount on the payment of electricity bill and install electricity bill in installments. But there was no help from the central government for this.
Raut said that Mahavitaran is at a loss of 69 thousand crores. Now we can not take any more loan. He said that 69 percent electricity bill has been recovered. So now this topic is over. It is noteworthy that consumers received increased electricity bills during the lockdown. The parties that supported the government, including the opposition, also agitated against it. MNS President Raj Thackeray had also met Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari and sought relief and the Energy Minister had also said to give relief.
A proposal of one thousand crore rupees was also proposed by the Energy Department in the cabinet meeting. But the proposal could not be approved due to obstruction of the Finance Department.
Privilege breach proposal against Energy Minister
Accusing the government of promising khalifa, state BJP spokesperson Ram Kadam said that it is a government to deceive people. At the same time, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Pravin Darekar said that this is a shameless government, which does not fulfill the promises made to the people. BJP MLA Atul Bhatkhalkar said that after sending the wrong electricity bill, he will now bring a motion for breach of privilege in the Assembly against the promised power minister, Raut, who promised to facilitate the electricity bill.
