Ministry of Defense dismissed complaint against salary inequality
Air Vice Marshal P Subhash Babu had approached the military court against the discrepancies encountered after the implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission. AFT Chairperson Rajendra said in his decision, with effect from July 1, 2017, instructions have been given to pay the salary of the applicant. The government has also been directed to give pension and other benefits to the petitioner with effect from July 1, 2020.
The military court said that the government should comply with its directive within three months. The Defense Ministry had earlier dismissed a statutory complaint filed by the AVM against wage disparity. For which the military court pulled up the ministry.
Ankur Chhibber, counsel for Air Vice Marshal Babu, said after the Sixth Pay Commission it was decided that military service pay would be payable only up to the rank of Brigadier and not beyond. This decision of the military court will help in resolving the long pending complaint of two star officers of the armed forces.
