Modi said that ASEAN has always been the core of our 'Act East Policy'. He said that India's 'Indo-Pacific Ocean Initiative' and ASEAN's 'Outlook on Indo-Pacific' have many similarities. Leaders of all 10 ASEAN member countries are participating in this summit being conducted online.
Addressing the conference, Prime Minister Modi said that strengthening of physical, economic, social, digital, financial and maritime relations between India and ASEAN is a very important subject for us. We have come closer in these areas in the last few years and this conference will work to reduce the distances.

What is ASEAN
ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) is an association of Southeast Asian countries. It was established to promote political and social stability amid growing tensions between the colonial countries of the Asia-Pacific.
Explain that 10 South Asian countries are included in this organization. These include Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar and Cambodia. It is noteworthy that ASEAN is India's fourth largest trading partner.
