The Sensex opened 319.77 points (0.73 per cent) at 43957.75 level and the Nifty started with a gain of 82.20 points (0.64 per cent) at 12862.50.

Both indices reached an all-time high on Saturday in the special Muhurat trading session of the beginning of the Hindu Samvat year 2077. On the auspicious occasion of Diwali, the Sensex closed up 194.98 points (0.45 per cent) at 43637.98. At the same time, the Nifty started with a gain of 50.60 points (0.40 per cent) at 12770.60. Investors made a profit of around Rs 1.24 lakh crore during this period.
