Apart from this, Renu Devi, MLA from Bettiah, has been declared the deputy leader of BJP Legislature Party. It is believed that Renu Devi may also be given the status of Deputy Chief Minister in the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government. The NDA government's swearing in the state is on Monday.
In the BJP Legislature Party meeting held on Sunday, Prasad was chosen as the leader and Renu Devi as the deputy leader. BJP Bihar's official Twitter handle said, “Many congratulations to Tarkishore Prasad on being elected the leader of the BJP Legislature Party and Renu Devi on being elected as the Deputy Leader.
The meeting was attended by Defense Minister and senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh, BJP state in-charge Bhupendra Yadav, election in-charge Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister Nityanand Rai and state party chief Sanjay Jaiswal among many others. Here Sushil Modi proposed Prasad's name.
Tarkishore Prasad, 52, entered politics through the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). He has been winning from Katihar assembly seat since 2005. Tarkishore Prasad, who has studied up to 12th standard, is considered to have a good hold in the politics of Bihar.
Renu Devi, who comes from the backward class, has been elected MLA four times from Bettiah. At the same time, she has also held a ministerial position in Nitish Kumar's second term as Chief Minister. On the possibility of being given the post of Deputy Chief Minister, Renu Devi said that she will follow the orders of the party.
Prasad said that whatever responsibility will be given to me as a committed BJP worker, I will try to follow it seriously. He said, I came to know about my selection in the Legislature Party meeting itself. I will do whatever work is given to me.
