Hemraj Jat’s mother Dakha Devi, a resident of Bhadun (Rupangarh) in Ajmer district, came to receive the award, the eyes of everyone present there became moist. When Shaheed Hemraj’s mother came to receive his son’s Gallantry Award posthumously, then other officers and soldiers, including Lieutenant General Alok Kler, were filled with eyes. After the ceremony, Lieutenant General Cllr again met Dakha Devi, many other officers also came to be photographed with him. During this time, the Lieutenant General saluted him. Havildar Rajeev, soldier Gurudev Singh, Major Deepak Kumar, soldier Pushkar, Vikas Kumar Dwivedi, Nagendra Udyagol, Arjun M and Major Deepak Kumar were awarded the Army Medal at the ceremony. Grenadier Hemraj Jat was awarded posthumously. Apart from these, special medals, distinguished service medals, unit citations were also given.
Hemraj was martyred while fighting terrorists in Poonch sectorGrenadier Hemraj Jat was martyred on 1 September 2019, taking on Pakistan in Poonch sector of Kashmir. Pakistan started firing on Hemraj’s post. Hemraj gave a befitting reply to the enemies with machine guns. Heavy damage to the enemy. While firing at the enemy, a splinter hit his neck. He died during treatment. Due to his bravery, he was given this Gallantry Award.
