Ranchi News: Before seizing Bhanupratap Shahi’s property in Garhwa district of Jharkhand, ED had also seized the property of former minister Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Ranchi. There is an allegation of making illegal property while Madhu Koda is the Chief Minister.
The ED seized these assets in December 2013 and the order was approved by the decision making authority under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). In the cabinet headed by Chief Minister Madhu Koda, Shahi was the Minister of Health and Labor. The ED and the CBI had alleged that they misused their position between 2005-09 and created illegal assets.
Action was taken to seize 15 immovable property belonging to PorcupineThis case is related to the complaint filed by both the investigating agencies against former state Chief Minister Koda and others on corruption charges. A money laundering case is going on against the former minister before a special court under the PMLA in Ranchi. The ED alleged that Shahi was involved in money laundering activities with his relatives and others while serving as MLA and cabinet minister in Jharkhand from 2005-2009. He illegally acquired assets worth Rs 7,97,96,888 through Sonanchal Buildcon Private Limited and Angesh Trading Company Limited. The ED had earlier taken action to seize 15 immovable property belonging to Shahi in Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Ranchi.
