Trinamool Congress MP Dola Sen received Tikait at the airport. Tikait then addressed the farmers along with social worker Medha Patkar in the city and at Nandigram in East Medinipur district.
Tikait alleged that the BJP-led government at the Center was intent on breaking the backbone of the farmers and their movement. He said that this is an anti-people government. He said do not vote for the BJP. If they are voted, they will give your land to big corporates and industries and make you landless. They will place your livelihood at stake and hand over the land to big industrialist groups of the country and put you in danger.
Market will open in Parliament
The next target would be to sell crops on Parliament. Market will open in Parliament. The PM has said that if we sell vegetables outside the market, we will do the same. He said that till the law is not returned and till the farmers of Bengal will get the rate on SSP, then the farmers will not withdraw from the Delhi border.
Calling the BJP a party of traitors, Tikait said, “We will remain in the court of those who oppose the BJP and those who stand with the farmers and the poor.” He clarified that Kisan Mahapanchayat in Bengal does not mean supporting any particular non-BJP party in the state. He said, “I have not come here to ask for votes for any particular party.” We are appealing here on behalf of farmers in Bengal to start a fight against the BJP.
Referring to Nandigram, he said that this land of farmers’ movement will give a new direction to the movement against the new agricultural laws of the Center. On the movement on the borders of Delhi, he said that the agitators are ready to continue their agitation for a long time because their morale of them is high.
