Why were the resident doctors on strike?
Resident doctors were on strike since 8 March because the government was not paying the pending amount of the seventh pay scale between 2016 and 2019. Earlier, from March 1 to March 8, the doctors had protested by putting a black badge, but after that the doctors went on strike after negotiations with the secretary and RIMS director failed. However, due to the doctors’ strike, the medical system was stalled across the state and thousands of patients returned home without treatment.More than five thousand patients returned from OPD in three days

During this time, adding the number of people returning from many departments including RIM’s Neuro, Ortho, Surgery, Cardio, without showing to the doctor, then close to three thousand patients returned alone.
