Preparations are in full swing for the 11th National Hockey Sub Junior Championship to be held from March 10 in Simdega. Chief Minister Hemant Soren will inaugurate the championship. On Monday, Sports Director Jishan Qamar reached Astroturf Stadium and took stock of the preparations. Simdega Deputy Commissioner Sushant Gaurav informed him about every aspect related to the preparation. Looking at the preparations, the sports director looked quite satisfied.
He said that Simdega has given more than fifty stars of hockey to the country. He has also been a captain in the Indian hockey team. He announced another Astroturf Stadium in Hockey’s stronghold Simdega soon. He said that efforts are being made for the education of sportspersons by keeping the hostels closed, so that they can get regular education.
The Sports Director also inspected the hostel near Parvati Sharma College. Earlier, he along with the Deputy Commissioner inspected the land for the new Astroturf Stadium near Albert Ekka Stadium. The Deputy Commissioner said that preparations for the competition are in the final stages. The team will start arriving from March 7. All preparations will be completed before that.
On this occasion, President of Hockey Jharkhand Bholenath Singh, Secretary of Hockey Jharkhand, Manoj Konbegi of Hockey Simdega, Simdega Sports Officer, District Panchayati Raj Officer and others were present.
