New Delhi. Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan launched various facilities at AIIMS Bhopal (AIIMS Bhopal). Mycology Advanced Resource Center, Cancer Treatment Center and Skills Laboratory established in collaboration with ICMR dedicated to the country. Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan laid the foundation stone of the administrative section of AIIMS Bhopal and also inaugurated the auditorium of AIIMS.
The Union Minister said that the dream of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was to provide balanced specialized medical facilities at the regional level across the country. He said that the establishment of AIIMS across the country to provide better health facilities to all citizens has fulfilled the dream of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
He dreamed of setting up more AIIMS across the country in view of the overcrowding of AIIMS Delhi to remove regional disparities in healthcare management and standards of education. He announced the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PM Health Security Scheme) in 2003, under which a plan was prepared to create 6 regional AIIMS in different parts of the country.
AIIMS was established in Bhopal (Bhopal) as a result of the serious efforts of late Sushma Swaraj and due to the proper demand of the area. It is a geographically important place for such AIIMS. A formal declaration for this, through an ordinance, was made on 16 July 2012.
Dr. Harsh Vardhan said that the Government of India, under the leadership of dynamic Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is committed to the expansion of excellent institutions of medicine to provide high quality complete medical services to all. Dr. Harsh Vardhan expressed happiness over the multi-faceted achievements of AIIMS Bhopal including academic, patient care services, capacity building and research activities.
With reference to the recently launched ICMR-MARC center, Dr. Harsh Vardhan said that I am happy to know that this institute has got a new generation sequencing facility. This system will help in rapid sequencing of microbes including SARS-CoV2, other viruses and Microbacterium TB.
He said that I am also happy that the scientists and the faculty of the institute have developed several TB diagnostic tests in association with AIIMS Delhi and other institutes, some of which are in advanced technology transfer phase.
He said that it is also commendable that the Director of AIIMS Bhopal has established the Center for Translational Medicine, which is a unique facility in any medical institution in the country. Translational medicine has a great future. This center will be able to become a milestone in the integration of clinical and basic science with its advanced equipment.
This center of AIIMS Bhopal has been established with the aim of speeding up the treatment by exploring new diagnostic tools and using multidisciplinary methods. In this center, work will be done on new diagnostic kit development, drug discovery, whole genome sequencing, transcriptomics, artificial intelligence and clinical trials. We should learn how innovation benefits humanity and is not limited to publication of findings only.
The Health Minister said that the AIIMS Bhopal laboratory conducted more than one lakh 96 thousand tests till March 12 to overcome the Kovid-19 epidemic.
On this occasion, Madhya Pradesh Medical Education Minister Vishwas Sarang and Lok Sabha member Ramakant Bhargava, DG-ICMR Dr. Balram Bhargava, Director AIIMS Bhopal Dr. Sarman Singh and senior officials of ICMR and AIIMS Bhopal were present.
