In this village of Jharkhand, a child is often born with a disability, even the parents do not know why this is so?

In Chaidiha village of Dumariya block of Ghatshila in Jharkhand, there are many children who are malnourished. Today these children are handicapped and helpless and are lying on the cot. There were many malnourished children who have died. Jagdish Singh, who lives in Chaidiha, has two sons and a daughter. Two daughters are fine, but two sons, one of two has died due to both malnourished and the other is counting the days of his life lying on the ghat.

The malnourished child Krishna Singh stays at his ghat throughout the day. Neither can speak nor can he walk. His mother Basanti Singh is engaged in the care of her son throughout the day. The first two sons Krishna Singh and Meghnath Singh – in which Chhota Meghnath Singh has died. Earlier both brothers used to live on the same cot, but now after the death of Meghnath Singh, Krishna Singh alone remains on the cot.

Yashoda Singh, daughter of Ruddha Singh in Chaidiha village, is also a victim of malnutrition. She is now three years old, but cannot walk nor speak. She keeps playing on her mother’s lap. Ruddh Singh showed his daughter to the doctors, on which the doctors said that in the coming time the child will go and speak, but for three years, the child is neither able to walk nor speak.

Visheshwar Singh, who has a hand in this village, has a handicap. Visheshwar Singh also says that one of his hands is bad since childhood. When a hand is damaged, he is unable to do any work. The pension he gets from the Divyang is 1000 rupees, he runs his own house. In this village, a malnourished child has died. He is the 14-year-old son of Dashrath Singh, the 3-year-old daughter of Milu Singh and the 4-year-old son of Krishna Patar. Villagers tell that often a disabled child was born in this village, for which reason they do not know.
