Rajasthan is the first state to implement reservation
Rajasthan became the first state to implement 50% reservation system for women in elections. The provision of 33% reservation for women was implemented in the new Panchayati Raj Act enacted in 1994 in the state after the 74th constitutional amendment. However, the provision of 50 percent reservation for women in the assembly elections is not applicable.
