The Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce has written a letter to the Ministry of Railways regarding increase in passenger amenities and completion of pending railway projects. In Giridih, the main demand for opening a new zonal office including Ranchi, Dhanbad and Chakradharpur was made.
Chamber President Praveen Jain Chhabda said that the Giridih railway line from Pasternath, Dhanbad and Jhajha is very close but work on this project has not started yet. It is necessary to start the work without delay by allocating funds to all these railway lines. The Chamber demanded the Ministry of Railways to get the construction of the recommended overbridge on the Sahebganj Eastern and Western Railway crossings at the earliest.
Demanding the establishment of the zonal office of South-Eastern Railway in Jharkhand, it was said that railway projects have developed there due to the zonal offices in Chhattisgarh and Orissa. In such a situation, it is necessary that a new zonal office should be opened in the state including Ranchi, Dhanbad and Chakradharpur. Ranchi was also requested to make some trains operational for major cities. It was demanded to start trains mainly operating from Tapaswini Express, Ranchi-Delhi Garib Rath, Swarnajayanti Express, Hatia-Pune Express, Ranchi-Bhubaneswar, Ranchi-Surat, Ranchi-Jaipur and Ranchi to New Delhi. It was also suggested that the capital should be made operational through the Tory line, this saves on travel time.
The Chamber President also demanded to start some new trains from Jharkhand. He said that two trains currently operate from Jamalpur and Gaya to travel from Sahebganj to Howrah, but the special benefit of this train is not available to the residents of Sahebganj. In such a situation, an Intercity Express should be started from Sahebganj to Howrah. Similarly, along with direct train service from Giridih to Howrah and Ranchi, passenger service from Madhupur to Koderma and Hazaribagh is also absolutely required. It was also stated that the passenger train from Gomo to Andal needs to be operated at a regular interval. The Chamber suggested to operate a train from Ranchi to Lucknow and Pakur to Delhi route. Chamber General Secretary Rahul Maru said that at present the attraction among investors has increased, so it is necessary to operate local trains between all the major cities of Jharkhand on the lines of other metros. He also said in a letter to the Railway Ministry that a sleeper and an AC-3 bogie from Giridih were added to the Anand Vihar Express operating from Patna to Kolkata for the convenience of passengers from Giridih but after the lockdown. It has been closed due to which the passengers are having difficulty. It was requested that this facility should be restarted.
