Kisan Andolan: Another farmer from Haryana committed suicide near Tikri Border in protest against agricultural laws

Chandigarh A farmer from Hisar district in Haryana (Haryana) allegedly committed suicide by planting a trap on a tree about 7 km from the Tikri Border protest site on Sunday. The police said that the 49-year-old farmer, who supported the movement against the new agricultural laws of the center, has allegedly left a suicide note. Bahadurgarh City Police Station SHO Vijay Kumar told over phone, “The victim Rajbir was a resident of a village in Hisar district.” Some farmers saw Rajbir’s body hanging from the noose and reported it to the police.

Last wish stated in suicide note

Police said that the suicide note allegedly left by Rajbir mentions that three agricultural laws are responsible for this step taken by him. He (Rajbir) has also said in this that the Center should repeal these laws and fulfill his last wish.

Farmers have also committed suicide against agricultural laws in the pastA farmer hailing from Jind, Haryana, who supported the movement against the agriculture laws of the Center, had allegedly committed suicide by planting a noose from a tree just 2 km from the Tekri Border protest site last month. Earlier, another farmer from Haryana had allegedly consumed poisonous substances at the Tikri border. He later died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Delhi. Last December, a lawyer from Punjab allegedly committed suicide by consuming poisonous substances a few kilometers away from the protest site on the Tiki border.
