Solar system’s largest volcano on Mars
Significantly, Mars is the largest volcano in the solar system. Its name is Olympus Mons. It is said that this volcano is the highest mountain in the solar system. It is located in the southern part of Mars. On top of this, every year a long tail of a white cloud is seen on Mars.
This cloud is formed and worsens about 80 times every day
You will be surprised to know that this white cloud formed over Olympus Mons is formed and worsens about 80 times every day. Like- last time its tail was 1800 kilometers and its width was 150 kilometers. This cloud is called Arsia Mons Elongated Cloud.

This cloud comes before the sun comes out
Scientists from the European Space Agency and NASA studied this white cloud and found out that this cloud was formed before the sun rose. It was visible on the surface of Mars for about two and a half hours. This beautiful looking cloud was flowing from its tip to tail at a speed of 600 km per hour. After this, it was separated from its place of origin and disappeared until the sun blossomed.
Such clouds are also formed on the earth
Arsia Mons Elongated Cloud on the Red Planet is also known as Orographic Cloud. It flows from south direction to north direction on the surface. Many times such clouds are formed on the earth too, but their length and breadth are not so much. Nor, like this white cloud on Mars, the Earth’s clouds are dynamic.
Study done with the help of five satellites
For the study of this cloud, five satellites have been used, including Mars Orbiter Mission of India. The remaining four missions are NASA’s MAVEN, MRO, Viking-2 and Mars Express Orbiter. Pictures from Mangalyaan have also taken pictures of this cloud and its place of origin. Which was sought from ISRO by European Space Agency.
