A top commander of Jaish-e-Mohammed is expected to be surrounded in an encounter that started on Saturday night in Shopian in southern Kashmir. The army, CRPF and police laid siege to the entire area on the information of the presence of terrorists in Rawalpora village of the district. Earlier on 11 March, two Jaish terrorists were killed in an 18-hour encounter in Anantnag. AK 47 rifles, pistols, grenades and bullets were recovered from the slain militants. On March 9, in the Tujar Sharif area of Sopore in Baramulla district of North Kashmir, Abdul Ghani Khwaja, the chief of the terrorist organization al-Badr, was successful in killing.
At the same time, on Saturday morning, terrorists attacked a police post at Sopore in Baramulla district of North Kashmir. Two SPOs were injured in this. The terrorists fled after the attack. Security forces sealed the area and carried out a search operation but the terrorists could not find any clue. The injured SPOs Mohammad Afzal and Azad Ahmed were admitted to the hospital after their injuries.
Sopore SSP Javed Iqbal said that two police personnel were injured in this attack. One was discharged from the hospital after initial treatment while the other is undergoing treatment. His condition is said to be out of danger. The police have registered a case and started investigation. Immediately after the attack, top officials of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army and CRPF arrived to take stock on the spot. After the attack, a joint search operation was carried out after taking the area under siege.
