new Delhi: By now you must have seen the cute rabbit whipping. But the elf jumping rabbit is a special kind of creature that jumps on its front legs and its back legs are in the air, in the same way these rabbits walk in balance. For the last 80 years, it has remained a puzzle for scientists, but finally its secret has now been revealed.
What does research say
The species was first discovered in 1935. And since then, scientists have constantly tried to understand the reason behind it. According to the BBC report, RORB genes and mutations in Sauteur d’Alfort rabbits cause damage to spinal cord interneurons. Its researcher, Leif Anderson, said that the common rabbit neuron coordinates movement in the muscles and creates balance in the arms and legs and then puffs up with the help of both.
To move quickly, sauteur d’Alfort rabbits send their back legs sky high and walk on their front paws.

No coordination in elf rabbits
This co-ordination does not occur in bald rabbits nor does it form a balance. In this case, these interneurons were either completely missing or lacking in these rabbits. And that’s why they do not get puddles but walk on the front legs. Their back legs are seen in the air.
No jumping ability
Like rabbits of other species, they walk on the strength of their hands due to lack of ability to jump. They walk on their front legs which reduces the pressure on the spine. Scientists breed albert rabbits with other rabbits who could easily jump and jump. After this, the DNA of their 50 children was arranged. Then mutations were detected in the RORB genes of these children. It was among those rabbits who were walking on their hands.
