CHENNAI: Global venture capital (VC) firm Accel’s India office has announced the launch of its new $650-million fund to invest in early stages of startups across the country and Southeast Asia. This is the seventh fund from Accel, taking their total commitment to India and SE Asia to over $2 billion.
Accel partners with founders from the earliest stages (typically seed and series-A) and works with them through their growth journey. Currently, Accel is the first institutional investor in 87% of its investments. And 95% of its investments are seed or series-A. The VC firm is particularly excited about enterprise technology and Web3 and considers it areas where India is gaining increasing share on the global stage.
Flipkart and Freshworks are examples of companies backed by Accel from their initial seed rounds through all subsequent financings. Acko, Blackbuck, BrowserStack, Chargebee, CultFit, Swiggy, Vedantu and Zetwerk are a few other companies backed by Accel.
