Air India gets new MD-CEO, now the Maharaja’s command will be in the hands of a student of Political Science


New Delhi. Tata Sons has appointed former Turkish Airlines chairman Ilker Ayci as the new MD and CEO of Air India. This decision was taken in the board meeting of the company. He will assume his responsibility from April 1, 2022. Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran was also present in the board meeting. The board approved his name after due deliberation.

Approval from all the regulatory bodies is yet to be taken for the appointment of Ilkar IC. Tata Group recently bought 100 per cent stake in Air India for Rs 18,300 crore. This deal was completed on 27 January and from that day Tata Sons became its owner.

I have been a student of Political Science
The 51-year-old is an alumnus of the 1994 batch of the Political Science and Public Administration Department of Bilkent University, Turkey. In 1995, he did a research project on Political Science at the University of Leeds, England. In 1997 he completed the International Relations Master’s Program from Marmara University in Istanbul.
