new Delhi. There is good news for the devotees who wish to have darshan of Baba Amarnath. The Amarnath Yatra, which has been closed for the last two years, is going to start from this year. Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) on Thursday night announced the commencement of registration of pilgrims for the Yatra through online mode from April. The board said that RFID based tracking will be done for the movement of vehicles during pilgrimage in South Kashmir Himalayas.
Shrine Board Additional CEO SASB Rahul Singh had called a high level meeting under the chairmanship of Jammu Divisional Commissioner Raghav Langer to review the arrangements during the Yatra.

On-spot registration will also be done
It was said in this meeting, “Online registration will start from 1st April 2022. Also, only 20,000 registrations will be done in a day. At the same time, on-spot registration will also be done at the designated counters during the travel days.

To ensure the safety of Amarnath pilgrims, the board has decided to use Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) to track the movement of vehicles and pilgrims during this year’s pilgrimage. Singh said that RFID tag cards will be issued to all the pilgrims. The Divisional Commissioner has directed the Deputy Commissioners to install adequate number of toilets, water coolers along the route for the convenience of the pilgrims.

Travel was closed for two years
The pilgrimage was organized on a symbolic basis in the last two years 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, it is expected that this time the number of pilgrims may be more as compared to the previous years.

For the Amarnath Yatra, devotees will be able to register on the board’s website from the comfort of their homes. For travel registration, the application process will have to be completed by visiting the board’s website http://jksasb.nic.in. Apart from this, devotees can also register offline in the branches of Punjab National Bank, Jammu and Kashmir Bang and Yes Bank.
