Apple, Samsung drive 32-fold jump in export of smartphones in 4 years to top $5bn in 2021-22 – Times of India


NEW DELHi: Led by a strong push by Apple and Samsung to harness the benefits and commitments under the gov-ernment’s production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme, exp-orts of smartphones are set to cross the $5 billion mark in 2021-22, the record number coming in as firms gradually pitch India as a core global manufacturing base on the lines of China.
Early estimates said total exports are likely to be upw-ards of Rs 42,000 crore in the just-ending fiscal, up 32 fold from Rs 1,300 crore in 2017-18.
