The company has taken this action on the basis of complaints received from users through its complaints department and its system to prevent and trace the violators of the rules. According to the report, 14.26 lakh Indian accounts were banned by WhatsApp during February.
The company said that it received complaints against 335 Indian accounts between February 1 and 28, out of which 194 accounts were appealed for closure and action was taken against 21 of them.
Under the new IT Rules, social media companies have to issue a compliance report every month.

According to the company, if anyone shares any unlawful, obscene, defamatory, threatening, intimidating or harassing and hateful or otherwise unlawful or incitement to misbehavior material on his WhatsApp The account is banned. Apart from this, even if a user does not follow the company’s terms and conditions, his account gets closed.
