Black Shark has announced that it will launch the Black Shark 5 series in China on March 30. The series includes two smartphones — Black Shark 5 and 5 Pro. The company has uploaded a poster on Weibo, the Chinese social networking platform, to confirm its launch date which reads “Breaking Gravity” and includes images of an astronaut and a rocket. The upcoming Black Shark 5 series was recently listed on the TENAA and 3C websites and now the gaming brand has finally set the date for the phone’s arrival.
The Black Shark 5 Pro is expected to retain the 144Hz display and 120W fast charging, but it may bring a bigger battery than the 4s Pro. Earlier reports also suggested the Black Shark is in advanced negotiations to be acquired by Tencent. Let us discuss some of the expected specifications of both smartphones.
Black Shark 5 and Black Shark 5 Pro expected specifications
Black Shark 5 and Black Shark 5 Pro are expected to sport a 6.67-inch FHD+ display that will support a 144Hz refresh rate. Reports suggest the Black Shark 5 Pro will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset whereas the base variant will feature a Snapdragon 870 processor. Both the devices are likely to have multiple RAM and storage variants. The Pro variant may have two options — 12GB RAM+256GB storage and 16GB RAM+512GB storage. While the base variant might have three options — 8GB RAM+128GB storage, 12GB RAM+128GB storage and 12GB RAM+256GB storage.
Both the models are rumoured to feature a triple rear camera setup. Black Shark 5 is expected to house a 64MP primary camera (the Pro variant may have a 108MP main camera), 8MP ultra-wide lens, 5MP super sensor and LED flash. Both the smartphones may have e 13MP front shooter for selfies and video calls.
Both the smartphones in the Black Shark 5 series will pack a 4650mAh battery with 120W fast charging and will also be equipped with an in-display fingerprint sensor for authentication. For connectivity, the smartphones will have a dual SIM slot, 5G, USB Type-C and NFC.
