new Delhi. The auto industry, which is recovering from the Corona epidemic, has not been fully back on track so far. In February, dispatches from companies to dealers have seen a decline of 23 per cent year-on-year. Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) has said that shortfall in supply of semi-conductors, increase in vehicle prices due to new rules and some other factors are affecting the demand for auto mobiles.

According to SIAM data, domestic passenger vehicle, two-wheeler and three-wheeler sales declined from 17,35,909 units on a year-on-year basis to 13,28,027 units in February 2021. Total passenger vehicle deliveries declined 6 per cent year-on-year to 2,62,984 units in February 2022, while passenger car wholesales declined to 1,33,572 units from 1,55,128 units in February 2021. However, there has been an increase in the wholesale sales of utility vehicles and it has increased from 1,14,350 units in February 2021 to 1,20,122 units.

Two-wheeler sales down 27%
According to SIAM data, the wholesale sales of vans in February declined from 11,902 units in February 2021 to 9,290 units. Similarly, total two-wheeler sales declined by 27 per cent year-on-year to 10,37,994 units, while scooter wholesale sales declined to 3,44,137 units in the same period from 4,65,097 in February 2021.

this is the main reason
The wholesale sales of the motorcycle has come down to 6,58,009 units from 9,10,323 units in February 2021. Similarly, three wheeler sales in February 2022 came down from 27,656 units in February 2021 to 27,039 units. SIAM Director General Rajesh Menon says that the problems related to the supply of semiconductors, increase in prices due to new rules, rising commodity prices, high logistics cost are the reasons which have negatively impacted the overall sales of the auto industries. .
