new Delhi. After the jump in CNG prices in Delhi-NCR a few days ago, now the Maharashtra government has given a big relief. In Maharashtra, VAT (Value Added Tax) on CNG has been reduced by 10 percent.
The Maharashtra government said that now instead of 13.5 per cent, VAT will be charged on CNG in the state at the rate of only 3 per cent. That is, VAT has been directly cut by 10.5 percent. With this, customers will get CNG cheaper by Rs 5.75 per kg. It is worth noting that recently in Delhi-NCR, the prices of CNG were increased by up to Re 1 per kg.

20 was increased
The Maharashtra government has increased the price of CNG by about Rs 20 in the last 7 months before reducing VAT. Mahanagar Gas Limited had increased the price of CNG by Rs 2.58 per kg in July 2021. Then the price of CNG was less than Rs 50 per kg. After this, the prices continued to rise in the state and now the price has increased to around Rs 70 per kg.
Prices were increased every month
In Maharashtra, the price of CNG had increased by Rs 2 to Rs 54.57 per kg in October last year. The next month i.e. in November again the prices were increased by Rs 3.06 per kg. After this, on December 17, once again the price of CNG in Mumbai increased and the price reached Rs 63.50 per kg. Mahanagar Gas Limited had increased the price of CNG to Rs 66 per kg, while the price of PNG increased from Rs 38 per MCM to Rs 39.50 per MCM.

There will be a reduction in fares, relief to drivers
With the fall in the price of CNG, it will become cheaper for the common people to travel. A large number of auto drivers in Mumbai drive only on CNG and they will get relief if the prices come down. Apart from this, people driving their vehicles will also get cheaper fuel. If the freight charges are also less, then the prices of consumer goods can also be cheaper.
