new Delhi. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said on Saturday that automobile companies will start manufacturing flex-fuel vehicles in six months. Most vehicles in India will soon run on 100% ethanol. Flex-fuel is an alternative fuel with a combination of gasoline and methanol or ethanol.
The Union Minister was speaking during a program in Delhi on Saturday. He has told that this matter has been discussed with the top automakers of the country and he has assured that they will start manufacturing flex fuel vehicles within 6 months.

The central government is increasingly enabling the use of alternative fuels other than petrol and diesel in India. To accelerate the introduction of flex-fuel vehicles, a Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme covers automobiles and auto components and auto components of flex-fuel engines.
The Government of India has recently selected more than 70 companies for the Auto Component Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. The list of these companies selected for the PLI scheme includes companies like Maruti Suzuki, Toyota Components, Delphi TVS, Hella India, Dana Group, Bosch, Minda Industries, Tata Auto Components, Bharat Forge.

Gadkari suggested that the army should ban the use of vehicles with diesel engines and use trucks running on LNG, CNG and ethanol. The minister said that ethanol is much cheaper than petrol and diesel.
