Bhopal . The Madhya Pradesh government is contemplating to take senior citizens on pilgrimage by airplane under the Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yatra Yojana. A senior minister gave this information on Saturday.
The issue was discussed on the first day of a two-day contemplation camp of Madhya Pradesh cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan at Pachmarhi, the only hill station in the state in Narmadapuram district, about 210 km from the capital Bhopal.
State government spokesperson and Home Minister Narottam Mishra told reporters in Pachmarhi on Saturday, “Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojana (free pilgrimage scheme for senior citizens) will start afresh in April. During this, four trains will operate. In the first train, the Chief Minister and all the ministers will go to Kashi Vishwanath to offer prayers and take a dip in the Ganges.
Consideration of increasing convenience in travel
“There was also discussion on organizing such pilgrimage through buses and trains for small groups. There was also a discussion on taking senior citizens to remote pilgrimage centers by air.

When asked in this regard, Mishra said that it has been agreed in the cabinet that air travel will be made to take senior citizens to distant places of pilgrimage. Under this scheme, till now trains are run for pilgrimage places.
Chief Minister Kanyadan Yojana
According to Mishra, the cabinet also discussed the Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojana (scheme for the marriage of girls from poor families), which is currently being implemented by the two departments. He said that it was also discussed that the Chief Minister Kanyadan Yojana should now be run by only one department and the financial assistance given under it should be increased.
According to Mishra, the proposal to convert fair price shops into shops of other commodities was also discussed in the meeting. He said that in this the proposal to install GPS in the vehicles involved in the supply of ration was also discussed.
