At present, only two electric buses are plying on the roads of Delhi, but very soon this figure will cross 100. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal started the first electric bus service on the circular route from Indraprastha depot on January 17 itself. Now two days back, another e-bus service has been started on Anand Vihar to Mehrauli route. The Delhi government claims that by the first week of March, 50 more electric buses and by the end of March 100 e-buses will start plying on the roads of Delhi. A total of 300 electric buses will join DTC’s fleet on Delhi roads by the end of April.

According to the Delhi government, ‘This is a very important step towards controlling pollution in Delhi. Two thousand more electric buses will join the DTS fleet in the next few years. The Delhi government claims that since 2011, till January this year, not a single new bus had arrived in the DTC fleet.

Electric Buses: These state-of-the-art buses are 100% electric with zero tailpipe emissions.

Key Features of Electric Bus
This state-of-the-art bus is 100% electric with zero tailpipe emissions. These buses have knee ramps for disabled passengers and special pink seats for women passengers. These buses are equipped with CCTV cameras, which are connected to a two-way Central Command and Control Center (CCC) at Kashmere Gate. Each bus has 10 panic buttons and a hooter. This bus will run for at least 120 km on a single charge and will be fully charged in about 1.5 hours.

300 electric buses will run in Delhi
At present, there are about 6900 buses plying on the roads of Delhi, which include low floor and standard floor AC and non AC buses. This is the first time in Delhi that the fleet strength is around 6900 buses. After removing the old buses, 450 more new buses are being added to the cluster. Recently 100 buses were added.

This route from New Delhi Railway Station Gate 2 to Lado Sarai Terminal will be about 26.5 km long. 10 electric buses will run on this route.

This route of bus running from ISBT Kashmere Gate will be 50.7 km long and 9 buses will run on this route.

14 buses will run on this 31.5 km long route from ISBT Kashmere Gate to IGI Airport Gate-3.
