Solar Irrigation Pump
The Ministry of Power has encouraged farmers to use solar powered irrigation pumps instead of diesel powered irrigation pumps. Now many solar pump schemes are being run by the government. Under these schemes, financial assistance is also provided to the farmers for solar powered pumps. State governments have also started giving subsidy to install solar irrigation pumps.
Farmers’ income will increase
According to government data, diesel accounts for about 2/5 of India’s total fuel consumption. India’s agriculture sector is one of the largest users of fuel, especially diesel. In such a situation, this step of using solar energy can prove to be the most effective. This will reduce the consumption of diesel and will also save the cost of the farmers.
