At the beginning of the second phase of the budget session of Parliament, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the budget of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. For the financial year 2022-23, a budget of Rs 1.42 lakh crore has been presented. The Finance Minister also presented the supplementary demand for grants for the financial year 2021-22 for Jammu and Kashmir in the lower house which is Rs 18,860.32 crore. On the other hand, the opposition demanded from the government that they should be given enough time to study the budget proposals.
Rural development, development of industry, agriculture sector and tourism have been kept at the center of the budget. The central government has already announced Rs 35,581.44 crore for Jammu and Kashmir in its general budget for 2022-23.

The Bathinda, Jammu and Srinagar gas pipelines, Kiru and Kawar hydroelectric projects and Shahpur Kandi and Ujj projects are included in the main category, apart from the proposed metrolight rail project in Jammu and Srinagar. Let us inform that Nirmala Sitharaman presented the third budget of the state after the formation of a union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. This was the third budget after the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A from the state.
