Interesting story of our Bajaj
The story of success from the inception of Bajaj Auto has also increased interestingly. Bajaj Auto came into existence in 1960. Earlier this company used to be Bachhraj Trading Corporation.
Actually, Jamnalal Bajaj was a very established industrialist of his era. He also took part in the freedom struggle. In 1926, he formed a firm to do business, Bachraj & Company. After his death, his son-in-law Rameshwar Nevatia and two sons Kamalnayan and Ramkrishna Bajaj established the Bachraj Trading Corporation.
In 1948, a year after independence, Bachhraj Trading launched two-wheelers and three-wheelers by importing components from abroad. It is said that the first Bajaj Vespa scooter was made in a garage shed in Gurgaon.
After this Bachraj Trading Corporation set up its own manufacturing plant. Here the Bajaj family, in partnership with Firodiaz, set up separate plants to make two-wheelers and three-wheelers. Then Bajaj Auto came into existence. After some time, due to a dispute, Firodiaz and Rahul Bajaj parted ways. After a legal battle, Firodiaz got Bajaj Tempo and Rahul Bajaj became the head of Bajaj Auto.
Booking was done for years not months
While writing this news, I remember that the incident is probably from 1985-86. The aunt’s son had booked a Bajaj scooter in Bareilly. After that he shifted to Ghaziabad. And when the number of his scooter came, he went to Bareilly to get it. He traveled from Bareilly to Ghaziabad by scooter. I remember that when he stayed with us in Hapur, he told that the booking of this scooter was done long back.
It is even said that people used to earn only by selling their booking slips. Because the delivery of scooters used to take many years.
